How the CIP works
- All San Miguel students work one day a week at a real corporate job. The money they earn pays for most of the cost of their education.
- The real-world job experience every student receives prepares them for the real-world jobs they will perform throughout their careers. They learn what is expected of a professional employee, and how to meet those expectations.
- CIP Partners get motivated, professionally dressed, reliable, on-time employees, who successfully fill a regular entry-level postion. San Miguel provides transportation, pre-training tailored to the position, all HR functions, and insurance (worker's comp. and liability).
- The students work under a simple fee-for-service contract.
What our Corporate Partners do
In return, San Miguel
- Outsource an entry-level professional job to San Miguel High School;
Pay a flat fee for 199 full work days (about 10 months)
Train a team of four students (supported by San Miguel CIP staff) instead of training a new hire
- Provide supervision and periodic evaluation of students' performance.
- Assigns a team of students to fulfill the entry-level job
Provides daily transportation to and from the worksite
Provides training to students in professional behavior, work ethics, dress and attitude
- Works with each Internship Partner regularly to ensure appropriate, acceptable and productive job performance.
